Hertz Foundation Graduate Fellowships in Applied Physical Sciences
The Hertz Foundation Graduate Fellowships are awarded to graduate
students who are expected to have the greatest impact on the
application of the physical sciences to human problems. The Hertz
Foundation Graduate Fellowships are extremely competitive, with only
25% of applicants being selected for an interview, and only 10% of
those being selected for the award. The fellowship consists of a
cost-of-education allowance and a $25,000 stipend and is renewable for
a total of up to five years of support. College seniors and current
graduate students pursuing a PhD in the applied physical sciences are
eligible to apply. The fellowship is tenable at three dozen of the
nation's leading colleges and universities, including CalTech, Carnegie
Mellon, Harvard, Johns Hopkins, MIT, Princeton, RPI, Rice, Stanford, UC
Berkeley and Yale.
