The Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) Pilani, is a University established under Section 3 of the UGC Act 1956.The Institute offers the following off-campus work-integrated learning programmes:

 

INTEGRATED FIRST DEGREE PROGRAMMES

1. B.S. Engineering Technology (ET) Normal Duration: Six Semesters. Input requirements: Employed professionals holding a technical diploma or an undergraduate degree such as B.Sc. with minimum two year relevant experience in Engineering Industries.

2. B.S. Optometry: This Eight-Semester programme is conducted at Chennai in collaboration with Sankara Nethralaya - Elite School of Optometry, and at Hyderabad in collaboration with L.V.Prasad Eye Institute (LVPEI) - Bausch & Lomb School of Optometry. Input Requirements: Pass in 10+2 from Central / State board or its equivalent with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics / Biology

3. B.S. Physician Assistant: This Eight-Semester programme is conducted at Chennai in collaboration with Madras Medical Mission as well as with Frontier Lifeline – Dr. KM Cherian Heart Foundation. Input Requirements: Pass in 10+2 from Central / State Board or its equivalent with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics/ Biology.

 

HIGHER DEGREE PROGRAMMES 

4. M.S. Manufacturing Management (MM)

5. M.S. Software Systems (SS): For both 4 & 5, Normal Duration: Four Semesters. Input requirements: Employed professionals holding an Integrated First Degree of BITS or equivalent such as B.E. / M.Sc. with minimum one year relevant experience in Engineering Industries (for MM) and IT Industries (for SS).

6. M.S. Quality Management: This Four-Semester programme conducted in collaboration with Indian Institute of Quality Management (IIQM), Jaipur has plans for mandatory intensive contact sessions for two weeks during each of the first two semesters of the programme, at Bangalore / Chennai / Jaipur / Pune. Input requirements: Employed professionals holding an Integrated First Degree of BITS or equivalent such as B.E. / M.Sc. with minimum one year relevant experience in Quality and allied services.

7. M.S. Consultancy Management: This Four-Semester programme conducted in collaboration with Consultancy Development Centre (CDC), New Delhi has plans for mandatory intensive contact sessions on certain Saturdays and Sundays during each of the first two semesters of the programme, at Ahmedabad / Bangalore / Chennai / Delhi /  Hyderabad / Kolkata / Mumbai / Pune. Input requirements: Employed professionals holding an Integrated First Degree of BITS or equivalent such as B.E. / M.Sc. with minimum one year relevant experience in Consultancy and allied services. Candidates with M.Com. / ACA / ACS may also be considered on a case by case basis.

8.  M.S. Medical Laboratory Technology:  This Six- Semester programme is conducted at Chennai in collaboration with Sankara Nethralaya - Medical Research Foundation. Input requirements: B.Sc. in experimental sciences with exposure to Biology and Chemistry, or equivalent.

9. M.Phil. Optometry: This Four-Semester programme is conducted at Chennai in collaboration with Sankara Nethralaya - Medical Research Foundation.  Input requirements: B.S. Optometry of BITS or equivalent.

10. M.Phil. Hospital and Health Systems Management: This Four-Semester programme conducted in collaboration with Bombay Hospital, Mumbai / Indore and Christian Medical College (CMC), Vellore has mandatory intensive contact sessions for four weeks during each of the first two semesters of the programme, at Vellore / Mumbai / Indore. Input requirements: Employed professionals holding MBBS degree or its equivalent or an Integrated First Degree of BITS or equivalent such as B.E. / M.Sc. with minimum one year relevant work experience in well-established healthcare organizations.

 

The offering of any of the programmes /  centres for contact sessions is subject to availability of viable number of suitable candidates. The candidates for programmes 2, 3, 8, 9 should be prepared to appear at Chennai / Hyderabad for a Test / Interview at their own expenses, for which details will be put up in the website http://www.bits-pilani.ac.in/dlp-home after the stipulated deadline.

 

BITS also operates several other collaborative programmes with many industries across the country in functional areas directed towards their HRD needs. Any organization interested in such collaborative programmes may write to the Institute for details.
