Recruitment of Clerical Staff in Associate Banks of State Bank of India
Central
Recruitment & Promotion Department, State Bank of India, Corporate
Centre, Mumbai invites on-line applications from Indian citizens for
appointment of following Clerical Cadre posts in Associate Bank of
State Bank of India. Candidates are requested to apply on-line between
01-12-2008 and 31-12-2008 through Bank’s website http://www.sbi.co.in or http://www.statebankofindia.com.
For applying on-line, the candidate should go to any branch of SBI, pay
the amount of fees and get cash receipt with unique deposit Journal
Number and depositing branch code number. This number should be
correctly entered while registering an application on-line. No other
means/mode of application/printout will be accepted. The existing
permanent employees of any of the Associate Banks are not eligible to
apply for the same post in the same Bank.
Last Date for deposit fee at branch: 27-12-2008 (extended upto 31.12.2008 )
Last date for On-line registration: 31-12-2008 (extended upto 02.01.2009 )
Date of Written Examination: 01-03-2009 (Sunday)

Candidates
can apply for vacancies in one Bank/State only and will have to appear
for written test from a centre of that particular state. For example,
candidate applying to SBH Bank in Andhra Pradesh State can appear from
Andhra Pradesh only.

3. Emoluments:
Selected candidates will be paid emoluments as applicable to Award
Staff under various Rules/Awards/Settlement in force in Bank from time
to time. At present, the total starting emoluments of a Clerical Cadre
employee payable are around Rs. 7600/- per month for Graduates
inclusive of D.A. and other allowances at the current rate.
Allowances
may vary depending upon the place of posting. The new recruits must
have flair for marketing and will be required to make customer calls
and provide banking services, advisory services and cross sell products
etc. inside and outside Bank premises. The duties involve extensive
outdoor traveling. Depending upon requirement, there will be flexible
working hours and working in shifts.
4. Education Qualification:
(a) Minimum 12th Standard (10+2) or equivalent qualification thereof
with a minimum of 60% marks (55% for SC/ST/PWD/XS)
OR
A degree from a recognized university (graduation level) with a minimum
of 40% marks (35% for SC/ST/PWD/XS)
Matriculate Ex-Servicemen, who have obtained the Indian Army Special
Certificate of Education or corresponding certificate in the Navy or
the Air Force, who have put in not less than 15 years of service in
Armed Forces of the Union are also eligible for the post.
b. Should be able to write and speak English fluently.
c. They must be fluent in speaking and writing the Regional language of
the state from which they are selected. Knowledge of other Indian
language will be an added qualification.
5. Age:
(a) Minimum Age: 18 Years; Maximum Age: 28 Years (as on 31-12-2008).
Candidates born between 01-01-1981 & 31-12-1990 both days inclusive
are only eligible to apply. ( SC/ ST Details in brochure)
Selection Procedure:
All eligible candidates should apply on-line before the last date for
registering of applications:
a. Final selection will be made on the basis of performance in the
written test and interview taken together. Merely satisfying the
eligibility norms does not entitle a candidate to be called for written
test or interview. The questions in objective tests, except for the
test of General English, will be printed in bilingual i.e., English
& Hindi.
b. The written test will be of Objective type consisting of (i) General
Awareness (ii) General English (iii) quantitative Aptitude (iv)
Reasoning Ability (v) Marketing Aptitude/Computer Knowledge.
There will be negative marks for the wrong answers in the Objective
tests. Candidates will have to pass in each of the objective tests.
Candidates in the ratio of 3 times the number of vacancies will be
called for interview in the order of merit, subject to their having
secured at least 40% overall of marks (35% for SC/ST/PWD/XS) in (i),
(ii), (iii), (iv) & (v) above besides obtaining qualifying marks in
each objective type test.
Note:
(i) Other detailed information regarding the written examination will
be given in the ‘Acquaint Yourself’ booklet, which will be made
available to the eligible candidates along with the call letter for the
test.
(ii) Interviews:
Depending upon the number of vacancies only certain number of
candidates from amongst those who qualify by ranking high enough in the
merit will be called for interview. The candidates, who qualify for
interview must secure minimum marks of 40% (35% for SC/ST/PWD/XS) to be
considered for selection. Final selection will be made on the basis of
candidate’s performance in the written test and interview taken
together.
12. Date of written examination: 01-03-2009 (Sunday)
(Bank reserves the right to change the date of examination under
unforeseen circumstances, if any.)
13. Call Letters for Written Examination:
Candidates will be issued Call Letters at the correspondence address
given them in their on-line application, which will be sent by post.
Those
candidates who do not receive call letters latest by 22nd February,
2009 should contact in person at the address indicated against
examination centre opted by the candidate alongwith internet printout
application and fee deposit receipt with Journal No. no action is
possible if contacted after 25th February, 2009.
16. Application Fees and/ or Postal Charges:
SC/ST/PWD/XS: Rs. 50/- (Postal Charges only)
All others: Rs. 250/- (Application fees plus postage charges)
How to apply:
Candidates are required to go to any Branch of State bank of India and
pay the amount of fees and get receipt from the branch. The candidates
are required to apply on-line through website www.sbi.co.in or www.statebankofindia.com.
No other means/mode of application will be accepted. The last date of
registering applications is 31-12-2008. Application registration on our
website will be open from 01-12-2008 to 31-12-2008. Guidelines for
filling application are as under:
Candidate should have a valid email id. This will help him/her in
getting call letter/interview advices etc.
Candidates should have the Deposit Journal No. and depositing branch
Code No. (receipt of payment of fees) from branch of State Bank of
India before applying online.
The payment of fees should be made up to 27-12-2008. This date will be
same for the candidates belonging to far-flung areas.
Candidates should keep a copy of the Application printout and Payment
Receipt (Deposit Journal No.) for their record. An ‘Acquaint Yourself’
booklet will be sent to the candidates along with the call letter for
written test. Original payment receipt will have to be submitted with
the call letter at the time of written examination.
Candidates
serving in Government/Quasi Government offices, Public Sector
undertaking including Nationalised Banks and financial institutions
will be required to submit ‘No Objection Certificate’ from the employer
at the time of interview, failing which their candidature may not be
considered and traveling expenses, if any, otherwise admissible, will
not be paid.
The
reserve category candidate will have to produce his/her original caste
certificate/relevant certificates at the time of interview, failing
which his/her candidature shall be cancelled and he/she will not be
admitted for interview. OBC candidates, availing reservation will have
to produce OBC certificate with Non-creamy layer clause issued on or
after 01.04.2008 at the time of interview.
No other mode of application/printout or draft etc. will be accepted.
