INFORMATION BROCHURE AND INSTRUCTIONS TO APPLICANTS

For
DM Medical Oncology, posses a MCI recognized postgraduate degree (MD or
equivalent) in General Medicine Or Pediatrics Or Radiotherapy
-
For
M.Ch. Surgical Oncology, posses a MCI recognized postgraduate degree
(MS or equivalent) in General Surgery Or ENT (Otorhinolaryngology) Or
Orthopedics Or Obstetrics and Gynecology
-
Passed the qualifying examination (MD/MS or equivalent) in no more than two attempts.

Secured an average of 55% marks or more in the III-MBBS (Final MBBS) Exams
Passing Date of MD / MS on or before 31.05.2009

Application forms are available online and free of cost. It should be downloaded from TMH Web site – http:\\tmh.gov.in
- SUBMISSION OF APPLICATION FORMS
-
Interested
candidates having the minimal eligibility criteria should download the
application form and fill it completely in his or her own handwriting.
All the entries in the form should be filled by the same writing
material in a legible manner. Only an application made using the
downloaded form through Internet will be accepted. Please do not try to
alter the form in any way. Candidates are advised to print the
application form on one side of the paper only.

The
application must be accompanied with attested copies of all the mark
sheets / certificates / degrees / registration number, certificate and
other documents (from High School to MD / MS) and other original
documents which filled up appropriately.

The completed application form with all necessary enclosures should be mailed to the office of the Dean, TMC on or before 25th May 2009. The envelope containing the application should be superscripted “APPLICATION FOR DM/M.Ch COURSE . Applications sent by Fax, E-Mail, Photocopies or any other form will not be entertained.

Duly
completed application must be accompanied with a DD drawn on a
Nationalized Bank and payable at Mumbai in favor of “DIRECTOR, Tata
Memorial Centre” of Rs. 1000/- (Rupees one thousand only). Demand
Draft submitted with this form includes examination fees and is not
refundable in any case.

Incomplete
applications will be rejected and no correspondence in this regard will
be entertained. Applications received after the last date will not be
ejected, and no grounds for delay including postal delay will be
entertained.

All
passport size photographs must be self addressed, identical, snapped
with front profile, showing full head, face, shoulder and with both
ears and taken without wearing any Cap/Hat/Sun glasses. Polaroid
photos are not accepted. Photograph must be taken on or after 31st
December 2008, with a placard indicating the date.

Provisional
admit card shall be sent by Registered Post to the candidates. If an
eligible candidate does not receive the admit card, he/she may contact
the office of the Dean, Tata Memorial Hospital, Parel, Mumbai on 1st
June 2009 along with 2 copies of identical to those pasted in
original in application form.
- PATTERN OF THE EXAMINATION:
-
There will be one MCQ type of paper with 100 questions to be completed in 100 minutes.

Each correct answer will fetch 2 marks and each wrong answer will fetch one minus mark (negative mark)

Candidates
who have secured above 50% marks in the MCQ test will be called for the
Viva Examination by the selection Committee on the same evening OR next
day morning. The Viva will be of 50 marks.

Final
merit list will be based on the total scores obtained out of a maximum
of 250 marks which will be derived by adding the 200 marks (MCQ) and 50
marks for Viva Examination.

For
Surgical Oncology MCQ, 50 questions will be non oncology related topics
from general surgery (30 questions), ENT (10 questions), Orthopedics (5
questions) and Gynecology (5 questions). 50 questions will be on
various surgical oncology topics including 10 marks on recent advances
in surgical oncology.

For
Medical Oncology MCQ, 50 questions will be non oncology related topics
from general Medicine (30 questions), Radiotherapy (10 questions),
Pediatrics (10 questions). 50 questions will be on various Medical
Oncology topics including 10 marks on recent advances in Medical
oncology.

Final merit list will be declared & posted on the TMH website. http:\\tmh.gov.in

The
candidates will be selected for admission strictly based on the marks
obtained in the MCQ and Viva. In case of equal marks in the test the
ranking of the candidates shall be determined in the following order :-

In
case of candidates having equal marks in the test, the merit shall be
decided on the basis of number of failures at the MD/MS examination.
One mark will be deducted out of the marks obtained by the candidates
in the written test for each failure.

In
case of candidates having equal marks vice (a) above, the merit shall
be decided on the basis of percentage of aggregate or marks obtained by
the candidates in III-MBBS (Final Examination).

In
case of candidates having equal percentage of aggregate marks at the
MBBS (Final) Examination vice (b) above, the merit shall be decided on
the basis of percentage of marks obtained by the candidates in Medicine
(for selection to DM course) and Surgery (for selection to M.Ch.
course) in the MBBS examination.

If
the marks at the above vice (c) happen to be the same the date of birth
would be the basis i.e. the candidate senior in the age would rank
higher.
-
The
DM/M.Ch. course is a full time residential course. Students will be
provided sharing accommodation and stipend as per the institutions
norms.

The
decision of the Director, Tata Memorial Centre shall be final and
binding on the candidates in respect of the admission tests.
-
The
admission and continuance of Registration / Residency of the candidate
shall be subject to the HBNI Act, Statutes, Ordinance, Rules and
Regulations and orders as may be applicable from time to time.
-
The
decisions of the Postgraduate Studies Board, Tata Memorial Centre, and
Board of Health Sciences, HBNI in all the matters of admission /
registration shall be final and binding on the candidate.
-
Mere
submission of application and appearing and qualifying in the
examination or test will not entitle the candidates to claim the
admission in any of the above course. The candidates must note that if
is found that he / she is not eligible, the Dean Office will not issue
the Admit Card and will not take any responsibility in this regard.

No TA / DA will be admissible for attending the written test and joining the course.

Candidate
will have to produce original documents including documentary proof
that their medical degrees are recognized by MCI before final admission.
