Uttar Pradesh Post Graduate Medical Entrance Examination - UPPGMEE 2009


Applications are invited for UPPGMEE 2009 for admission to various MD/MS/PG Diploma and MDS Courses for session 2009 in the U.P. State Medical Colleges of Agra, Allahabad, Gorakhpur, Jhansi, Kanpur, Meerut and in Medical/ Dental faculty of CSM Medical University, Lucknow.

Date of Examination:

UPPGMEE 2009 examination shall be held on Sunday, 1st February, 2009 at Kanpur.

Examination will be held at various centers at Kanpur as per details given below:

Duration of Post Graduate Courses:

  • MD/MS: 3 Years
  • MDS: 2 Years
  • PG Diploma: 2 ½ Years

Eligibility for UPPGMEE 2009:

  • Candidates who have passed MBBS /BDS Course from the State Medical College of Agra, Allahabad , Gorakhpur ,Jhansi , Kanpur , Meerut and Medical / Dental faculty of CSM Medical University, Lucknow and recognized Private Medical /Dental Colleges of U.P. are eligible to appear in the entrance examination.
  • Candidates who have passed MBBS from Himalayan Institute of Medical Sciences, Dehradun,and are bonafide residents of U.P. and selected through CPMT 2000 conducted by undivided Uttar Pradesh are also eligible. (Vide G.O. No. 977/71-3-04-Sa-64-2000 dated 20.3.2007.
  • Candidates must have completed or completing their Compulsory Rotatory Internship by 30th May, 2009.
  • A candidate who has already taken admission on the basis of earlier U.P.P.G.M.E.E./A.I.P.G.E.E. is not eligible to appear in the examination until he/she completes and passes the course where he/she is presently admitted. However, such a candidate shall be eligible if-
    1. He/she has resigned from the said course, his/her resignation has been accepted by the Principal of the medical/dental college and he/she has refunded the full amount of salary/stipend received by him/her during the said course, before the date of notification of this examination, i.e. 15.11.2008.
    2. He/she is presently pursuing P.G. Diploma course in any subject, with the condition that he/she will be considered for the Postgraduate Degree course in that subject only.

UPPGMEE 2009 Application Form

Application form can be obtained from State Bank of India, Medical College Branch at Agra, Allahabad, Gorakhpur, Jhansi, Kanpur, Meerut & Main Branch, Hazratganj, Lucknow on cash payment of Rs. 800/- plus Bank charges Rs. 22/- only.

Each application form bears a 4 digit unique number which is printed on information brochure and application form.

Candidates are required to check the number and ensure that the same number is printed on Information Brochure and application form.

In case any discrepancy is noted, it should immediately be brought to the notice of office of the following addresses positively before the last date of submission of application form.

UPPGMEE 2009 Important Dates:

  • Last date of sale of application forms: 10.12.2008

  • Date of issue of duplication admit card: 29 and 30 January 2009
  • Date of UPPGMEE 2009 Exam: 1st February, 2009

UPPGMEE 2009 Examination Scheme

1. After distribution of question papers, candidates must immediately ensure that they have received question paper of the correct course, viz., MD/MS/Diploma or MDS as applicable. Subsequent representation will be not entertained.

2. The examination shall consist of two written papers of MCQ (Multiple Choice Question) type as follows:

  • Paper I: 150 questions on pre and para-clinical subjects.
  • Paper II: 150 questions on clinical subjects.

Both papers shall be of two hours duration each and shall carry 600 marks each.

3. All the questions of paper I and II will be single sponse type of MCQ. In every question there will be 4 alternatives of which only one will be the correct response. The correct response to each shall be as determined by the Board of Examiners of the UPPGMEE-2009. Objections, if any, regarding any question in the papers may be filed within three days 4.2.2009.

4. Four (4) marks will be awarded for each correct answer. Zero (0) mark will be awarded for no response.

5. There will be negative marking. One mark will be deducted for each incorrect answer. Indicating more than one choice for any question shall be considered as incorrect response.

6. There is no provision of re-evaluation. However, there is provision of scrutiny for which candidate may apply within seven days of declaration of result along with a demand draft of Rs.300/- for each paper, in favour of Co-ordinator, UPPGMEE-2009 Regional Institute of Ophthalmology M.D. Eye Hospital, Dr. Katju Road, Allahabad-211003, payable at SBI, Allahabad (Branch code- 3040).

7. The questions will be of MBBS/BDS level. The number of questions from different subjects in the two papers shall ordinarily be as follows- (7) (8) MD/MS/PG Diploma courses:

8. Candidates should be careful while filling the circle for Answer Sheet. Use only black ball pen for filling the circles. Once filled, no change is possible. Filling of more than one circle in any question will be considered incorrect response, and will be negatively marked. A dot or any other mark like X, O, 0 etc. along with your answer will be considered as incorrect response. Some examples of correct and incorrect responses are given below

9. General category candidates shall have to secure a minimum of 50% marks and the reserved category candidates a minimum of 40% marks in order to qualify for admission to a postgraduate medical/dental course.

10. Candidate eligible for the reserved category will be given admission as per rules of the State Government, applicable on the date of counselling.

11. The examination will be conducted in English medium only.

UPPGMEE 2009 Exam Syllabus:

The syllabus will be the same as prescribed for the MBBS and BDS courses by the Medical/Dental Council of India respectively.



UPPGMEE 2009 Admit Card

1. Admit card will be sent to all the eligible candidates on their postal address on or before 13.01.2009 by speed/registered post.

2. Venue/Centre will be communicated through Admit Card.

3. Co-ordinator, UPPGMEE 2009, shall not be responsible for non-receipt or delay of admit card due to loss in transit or any other ground.

4. However, if due to any reason the candidate fails to receive the admit card by 21.2009, the eligible candidates can get a Duplicate Admit Card issued from the office of the Co-ordinator, Regional Institute of Ophthalmology, M.D. Eye Hospital, Dr. Katju Road, Allahabad, 211003 on 29.1.2009 and 30.1.2009 between 10:00 a.m. and 04:00 p.m.

Such candidates must bring along with them photocopy of application form, proof of submission of application form and two copies of the same photograph which they have pasted on their application form.

5. Admit Card will not be sent to non-eligible candidates and no correspondence in this regard shall be entertained nor shall their fee be refunded.

6. A successful candidate must preserve the Admit Card till admission in a college/institution. Duplicate admit card will not be issued after the examination

UPPGMEE 2009 Declaration Results:

The result of successful candidates with their combined rank along with category rank will be declared on college notice board and the website of the office, www.rioallahabad.com the copy of the result will also be sent to the following addresses and Principals/Dean of U.P. State Medical Colleges and CSMMU, Lucknow.
